May 7 – 11, 2012
CERE offers every year a crash course in Stated Preferences Methods. This course focuses on practical issues of contingent valuation and choice experiments.
One purpose of the course is that the student should come away with a good idea of how to apply the most recent techniques. Therefore, a significant amount of time is allotted to implementation within existing econometric packages. Examples and exercises make up a central part of the course. Course participants are presented with data sets originating from applications in resource economics, transportation and marketing research. R will be used as main software. This is the intensive part of a longer module of 7.5 ECTS. Students can get credits, subject to examination procedures. Course is free of charge but no travel grant is offered. In conjunction with this course, a crash-course in R is also offered.
The instructors are Dr. Bengt Kriström, Professor of Resource Economics at CERE and Dr. Thomas Laitila, Professor of Statistics, Örebro University.
