"Stumps and other deadwood function as habitats for a number of different organisms in the forest eco system. The clearing stumps are also sought after as biofuel. A forest economic study at SLU shows that the national environmental goals "Levande skogar" (Living Forests) and "Begränsad klimatpåverkan" (Limited climate impact) collide when stumps in a larger scale are harvested"
