Project in investigating the effects of the 1996 deregulation of the Swedish electricity market.

Project leaders: Runar Brännlund at CERE and Patrik Söderholm at Luleå Technical University, Sweden.
Financed by The Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications.

In 1996, the electricity market in Sweden was deregulated and after five years of implementing the deregulation policy, The Swedish Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications will investigate the effects of the deregulation of the Swedish electricity power market that was undertaken in 1996.

Their main task will be to clarify which factors have been the major determinants of the development of the electricity price faced by consumers. Specific attention will be devoted to how the system with green certificates and the large scale introduction of wind power have affected the market and consumer prices. They will deliver their report by end of April 2012.
