CEREs Karl-Gustaf Löfgren who is a professor of economics at Umeå University was appointed honorary doctor at The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). He finished his PhD in 1977 at Umeå University and was appointed professor in forest economics at SLU in the end of the 1970s. Karl-Gustaf is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry as well as The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

The nearly unique breadth in his research with publications in areas such as forest economics, environmental economics, labor economics, welfare economics, macroeconomics and public economics, was stressed in the motivation. His strong commitment in the PhD education as well as the forest science was also emphasized. The promotion was held on October 8 at SLU in Uppsala and the appointees held lectures on October 7.
