A new research school at SLU, ECOS has seen the light of day. Focus is on interdisciplinary understanding in human dimensions of natural resource use and is run by two different departments at SLU, Umeå.
The research school; Ecology and Society (ECOS) is based at SLU in Umeå. It is created as a research and teaching environment through interdisciplinary collaboration between the Department of Forest Economics and the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Environmental Sciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Its focus is on offering courses and arranging workshops that foster interdisciplinary understanding in human dimensions of natural resource use.
The school is targeted to SLU affiliated PhD students, post docs and researchers within the multidisciplinary field of human dimensions e.g. economics, ecology, or related fields. PhD students from other universities in Sweden or abroad are also welcome to apply for activities provided by the school. ECOS is expected to result in better collaboration among students and staff in the participating departments. CERE members Bengt Kriström, Erlend Dancke Sandorf and Chandra Kiran are already involved as lecturers.
