Conference season has officially begun.

On 12 May, our senior member and co-founder of CERE, Prof. Beng Kriström, inaugurated the Conference season by participating as Chair of the Spring Workshop in Behavioural Economics at the Royal Holloway University of London, focusing on emerging trends in behavioural and experimental economics.

Following Prof. Bengt, our scientific secretary, Sef Meens Eriksson, presented his work, ”Understanding the Impact of Rising Waste Disposal Costs: Lessons from Swedish municipalities,” at the 13th Mannheim Conference on Energy and the Environment (MCEE 2025), which discussed innovative research in environmental, energy, and climate economics.

A representative crew of CERE from SLU, including our research director, Tommy Lundgren, Chandra Krishnamurthy, Ester Hertegård, Shuyi Wang, Pedro Obregón Santander, and Chaitanya Suárez Rojas, also attended the Scandinavian Society of Forest Economics Biennial Meeting (SSFE 2025), dedicated to understanding the balance between climate action and biodiversity. Their presentations focused on i) understanding social preferences and perceptions of forest ecosystem services (Ester), ii) the attitudes of urban and non-urban forest owners toward alternative forest management (Pedro), iii) estimating shadow pricing in forest ecosystem services (Shuyi) and evaluating the coherence of peatland-related policies (Chaitanya).

What’s next?? Let’s keep track of where we’re spreading our knowledge this conference season!

And, of course, we look forward to seeing you in Ulvön 2025 next week!
